Manchester is looking forward to hosting the Labour Party Annual Conference 2008, building on the resounding success of the party's 2006 conference at Manchester Central Convention Complex.

The Labour Party was so impressed by Manchester's convention facilities, range of accommodation and ability to host a major event that it's decided to use the city as the location for its annual conference, once again.

Manchester has been ranked one of the world's most successful conference destinations, boasting sophisticated infrastructure to support major UK and international conferences and meetings.

More than £15 million of economic benefit was generated for the region as a result of the 2006 conference, together with increasing the city's international perception as a conference destination.

Sir Richard Leese, Leader of Manchester City Council said: "During the 2006 conference the eyes of the nation, indeed of the world, were on Manchester. We hosted cabinet ministers, a former American President and business leaders from around the world, alongside thousands of ordinary delegates from across the UK.

"Manchester has firmly established itself as a major conference destination and we will build on our reputation and experience to ensure the 2008 conference is a resounding success for delegates, residents and the city as a whole."
