Lib Dems Still Soft on Crime

Bike Crushing Event

Manchester Liberal Democrats failed again to give their full support at the powerful  January meeting of the Citizen and Inclusion Scrutiny Committee to   Manchester's pioneering Alcohol Exclusion Zones and the use of Youth Dispersal Orders to reduce youth nuisance in Manchester neighbourhoods.

The Committee Chair, Lib Dem John Bridges could only "note" the report. In contrast  Labour Councillors gave their full support to the effective actions taken and gave there  full backing to Manchester residents.

The Lib Dems in Manchester and in Parliament have consistently let Manchester people down by opposing tough and effective actions including the Alcohol Exclusion Zones and the use of Youth Dispersal Orders in Manchester.

Lutfher Rahman, Longsight Labour said,  "again and again the Lib Dems let Manchester people down. They have failed again to back decent citizens in the fight against crime.

I am of the view that Lib Dems cannot be trusted when it comes to standing up against criminals and bullies in our communities. Manchester residents expect the full support of councillors not this weak half  hearted attitude from the Lib Dems. Manchester Labour is committed to fighting crime we  have lead the way nationally when it come to  backing residents."
