Plans for City's first cycle centre
 Manchester City Council is looking to develop the city’s first cycle centre -at Manchester Piccadilly. Cycle centres offer secure parking for bikes and can also be linked to other cycling facilities such as an information point, cycle hire and bike maintenance. As part of his budget statement the Chancellor yesterday announced an extra £100m for local councils to repair pothole damage as a result of this winter’s severe weather. Council tax league tables show big freeze bonus
Manchester’s council tax is one of the lowest in Greater Manchester. And, as the tables below show, the city also has the third lowest council tax of any of the major cities outside London. Work starts on first Manchester City Council homes in more than 20 years
Work starts this week on a £4.2m project to build 32 new council homes in north Manchester, the first in the city in more than 20 years.
